Nutrition Coaching

Approach & Philosophy

It’s a journey, and we are working together to achieve sustainable habits (nutrition, fitness, sleep, recovery) that will create the healthiest version of you to last a lifetime. I’m not going to provide any quick fix solutions, suggest or provide any fad “diets”, shake or pill programs. Also won’t provide step by step recipes or menus to follow, but rather guide you to create your own weekly menus and food choices that work for your tastebuds, schedule and goals. The ultimate key is for us to discover how to achieve your goals without your life becoming unmanageable.

 

Expectations

Unfortunately I can’t tell or promise you what kind of changes you will see in the first 4-12 weeks of making changes to your nutrition intake. Every individual is different and will have different responses to my coaching. In addition how much time and effort you put in will affect the change you see. Some clients see drastic changes while others are so minimal they don’t even realize change has occurred. Also, is it change on the scale, how your pants fit, your body fat percentage, your sleep patterns, your energy levels? For some people the scale is the most important thing they want to see change, while others it is having more energy in the morning. I encourage you to manage your expectations and once again understand this is a journey and we are working towards creating sustainable habits to make you as healthy as possible for a lifetime. To get where you want to be, it may take 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Only time will tell, but as long as you are putting in your best and most honest effort, good things will come eventually.

 

What's Included

Initial phone consultation, personalized nutrition report, weekly check-ins, behavior modification training, grocery shopping guidance, food journal tracking, and final assessment at the conclusion of your training cycle.

 

Access

You will be working with me directly throughout the entire process and will have access to me predominantly via email in addition to your weekly check-in phone calls, although I am happy to answer quick questions via text.

 

Weekly Check-In

At the conclusion of each week you will have the opportunity to talk with me over the phone to discuss your food journal, areas of struggle as well as positives from the week, grocery shopping guidance and continued behavior modification to create healthy lifestyle habits. We would work together for either a 4, 8 or 12 week cycle. After a cycle is complete, if you feel you need or want additional coaching, another cycle can be added on for as long as you need.

 

Behavior Modification Training

“What is this? I thought I was just being told what to eat!” Unfortunately simply being provided guidance and suggestions of the best nutrients to put in your body on a daily basis is not enough. Most people struggle with reaching their health & fitness goals not because they don’t know what to eat, but usually they don’t know how much food they should be consuming or when exactly is the best time, and a lot of these choices are impacted drastically by all other areas in their life outside of their workouts. I will help determine if there are areas in your life such as inconsistency in your sleep, stressors at work and/or home, or habits you don’t even realize have become detrimental to your success both in the kitchen and gym. Discussing, learning and making modifications to your daily lifestyle behaviors will be a crucial element to making the changes necessary to achieve your goals.

 

Grocery Shopping Guidance

To ensure you have the best nutrients available to you at all times, becoming a smart and efficient grocery shopper can be a game changer. I will provide you with the tools you need to ensure you are going to the grocery store prepared to pack your cart full of the most nutrient dense foods.

 

Journaling

Although we will initially start with this so I can learn your current eating routine and habits, my goal is eventually for you to not have to journal on a daily basis. Once you start discovering the healthy foods and meals that you do enjoy, they will become a staple in your life and tracking may not be necessary. Every client is different though and some do continue to journal for accountability or because they simply like it. I’m a fan of MyFitnessPal and think it’s a great app, so we can certainly use that. I have used other apps and documents as well for clients, so I have flexibility here to make it work with your lifestyle.

 

Final Assessment

This is it, graduation, you’ve completed your training cycle! With a final phone call, it’s an opportunity to discuss everything that occurred throughout the cycle and determine what are the best steps moving forward to continue you on your path to the healthiest version of you. 

By the time your cycle comes to an end, drastic changes and improvements to your daily eating habits should be pretty apparent. In addition, some lifestyle changes should have occurred as well, which should have helped make eating cleaner easier. My goal at the end of every cycle is for you to walk away more educated and hungrier (no pun intended) to continue to eat and live a healthier lifestyle.
